About the Program

About this Program
Future leaders in the field of communications need a variety of skills to compete. Our program offers you the opportunity to learn and practice production, development, design and more.

Program Overview

Writing, researching, interviewing and editing across media platforms remain at the heart of the communication arts program. Courses are taught in computer labs and a new broadcast studio.

Our multidisciplinary program is the perfect springboard for careers in journalism, graphic design, marketing, public relations, and even law and government. Many students complete double majors, combining communication arts with foreign languages, business administration, psychology, history or English.

You will learn alongside faculty who  have extensive industry experience in their fields. In addition, their professional backgrounds and connections enable them to provide you with outstanding guidance and advising.

All students are required to complete an internship, giving you the opportunity to expand on your classroom learning with hands-on, real-world experience. Our location near Baltimore and Washington, D.C., gives you a wide array of internship opportunities. Our students have completed internships at National Geographic, the Office of the Governor (Maryland), Sirius XM Radio, WBAL-TV, Frederick Magazine and the Downtown Frederick Partnership.
