About the Program

Message from the Department Chair

I personally wish to welcome you to the web site of the Department of Business, Management and Accounting (DBMA) in the School of Business and Technology at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore. This is an exciting time for our department! It is especially more exciting for any student interested in a major in business administration. The department, which is accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) International, offers a wide range of programs to choose from.

In this globally connected knowledge-based economy, business environment is dynamically changing constantly. As a result of this constant change in the market environment, our programs and curriculums are evaluated and updated regularly to reflect these on-going market dynamics in order to prepare our students to become competitive and socially responsible entrepreneurs, employees, managers, and leaders. Our students are actively sought after by Fortune 500 companies. Some of our students are now assuming administrative and managerial positions at various Fortune 500 firms such as IBM, Bank of America, KPMG, Walmart, etc. Internship opportunities in the private and government sectors are also available to all students enrolled in programs offered by the department.

We have a talented and diverse group of faculty members who hold impressive academic credentials and have strong industry background including former managers and executives of various Fortune 500 companies. All members of our faculty are at the cutting edge of their fields and being held at the highest standards in terms of instruction and research. Conducting high-impact research is fundamental to all members of our faculty. Our faculty members are grant recipients and regular contributors, editors, referees of reputable peer-reviewed journals in the fields of finance, accounting, business administration, management, marketing, and economics. Research studies produced by our faculty are actively sought by industry, media outlets and the professions.
