About the Program
In the gerontology and aging services program at UMGC, you’ll gain a foundation in the physiological, psychological, social, and health aspects of aging, coupled with an understanding of programs, services, and policies that affect how we age and live as older adults. You’ll gain hands-on experiences in the aging services sector in preparation for a career that improves quality of life for this important and growing segment of the population.
The bachelor of science gerontology and aging services requires the successful completion of 120 credits of coursework:
- 41 credits in general education requirements
- 33 credits for the major; 18 of these credits must be earned in upper-level courses
- 46 credits in the minor, electives and other degree requirements.
This major includes 3 credits of required related coursework that may be used to satisfy the general education requirements or electives.
